At the Korban Workshop we began making caskets as an alternative to the more elaborate and expensive caskets generally available and in common use today.
In many parts of the world, the simple wooden casket is still used for burial as it once was here in North America. We support the revival of simpler and personal end of life care, as well as the ‘green burial’ movement, which is currently gaining favor in many locations.
It is permitted to provide one’s own casket to most funeral homes. Information on funeral regulations is available from Funeral Consumers Alliance at: funerals.org
